Lucky 13

I've learned a lot about myself as a filmmaker.
I've learned that I like:
scenery
close ups
wide shots
reality
beauty in little things
the polarizer filter
bright lighting
documenting
outdoor shots

and that if you plan accordingly and make time, the end results will show your effort.

I still hope to learn more about lighting and movement. I have yet to find my talent in making a good movement shot. Maybe it'll come within time. Maybe!

PORTRAIT OF K-DUNNE

You may say I'm a dreamer, but I'm not the only one.

In terms of filmmaking, my goals are basically to share what I love doing with the world. I have really been leaning towards directing television shows and music videos lately.  With that being said, I want to learn more about lighting. I know some of the basics, but didn't get too many opportunities to see how different lighting works. I also hope to learn how to do clean, low, wrap-around motion. It's really caught my eye lately in a lot of music videos. On the other hand, I know you don't get much time on an audienced television show so I hope to learn the basic shots that can be taken quickly for the best outcome. I really need to learn more about editing. It's probably my least favorite thing and I clearly don't know much about it. Last year we all got kind of frustrated with it. Plus, our shortfilm had its own editor, so I definitely didn't get as much practice in that area as I need. Anything that will further my knowledge in production is a necessity to me…especially if it's hands-on!

Take Me There

I haven't really figured out my visual style just yet. I do love a feel-good scene. And of course, clean and crisp helps. To me, there's something about the beauty of scene, realistic or not. If it's beautiful, it takes the audience to a deeper level. I love that. Color, romantic to the eye, close-ups, yet distance, simple, yet complicated. I love when you can feel the emotion through their expressions. You will learn I'm a sucker for beauty in romance. Comedy is a close next. I love an awkward scene to the eye that sometimes doesn't even make sense, but the fact that you feel like you're there and it's just as awkward for you is the icing on the cake.

Cheesy or not, I love the production of this video. The movement, the cutaways, the close-ups, the art of a piano being on a dock or in the road. As unrealistic as that is, it draws me in, it makes me want to be there. It's beautiful. There's no other way to say it. It's the perfect description of how I see my own work in the future. Simple, yet complicated, artsy and colorful, eye catching.
